6 month hearing

Just an update on Emma's Cochlear Implants. She has had them activated for 6 months. So her hearing is the equivalents of a 6 month old baby. When Emma was 14 months we had her video taped playing with me for 30 minutes part of her intervention. We just got the results back and WOW Emma is 1 smart cookie!!! At 3 months hearing she was saying 5 different vowel sounds and 2 consonent sounds thats just in the video. Let alone all of the different signs that she signed and knows now! She is doing really well. We have very high expectations for her speech and know that with continued support and great intervention she will soar! We've already found her a preschool for when she turns 3. Its a great charter school here in the springs that have people who work with deaf and hard of hearing kids. I'm so excited knowing that Emma will not be held back by her "handicap"
You can look at her and say "mama" and she will say it back to you. You can ask her questions signing and talking and she will answer them signing back and you can tell that her little brain is trying to figure out how to respond verbally back to me. Melts my heart. I am so thankful to God for modern medicine. Emma getting ready to go see the audiologist to have her implants adjusted :)
